As part of our mission to serve the needs of those medically
deprived individuals in developing countries, we instituted a specialized
prosthetic outreach program, Arise and Walk.
In our first outreach effort for this remarkable program,
a team led by prosthetist Gerald Martin traveled on a mission to Honduras
- where more than 20 patients who were previously unable to walk on
their own power were the recipients of new artificial limbs.
Some of these patients were born with malformations;
some were accident victims, however each one's need was assessed and
our team fitted them with the devices that would best suit their abilities.
